Having raised a family where the kids always had to turtle or two (a red ear comes to mind, named PacMan), it is hard for the Mrs. to resist rescuing it when she sees one in the street. We have nature preserves nearby, but, invariably, you will find one in the street, trying to mount a curb or in a driveway. Many is the time she has stopped her vehicle and, in business attire and high heels, taken a ‘lost’ soul to safety. In our area is a public golf course with a conference center, restaurant and pro shop with a nice stream off the clubhouse. Stream is ideal for dry, dusty turtles. Too bad there’s not a pathway down to the water! This happens often enough that she is considering putting a spare pair of shoes in each car. 🙂
