After much testing for Leo’s anemia, it was discovered that he may, in fact, have a bone marrow cancer. If this proves to be the case, we are heartbroken. This little person is such a sweet, loving boy. It hard to imagine that the universe has chosen him to be so ill, especially after finally being surrounded by a family who loves him dearly.
We are waiting for the oncologist’s report, having sent his marrow sample to the lab a couple of days before Veteran’s Day. He does not seem to be in rapid decline and is bright and inquisitive in the morning, but he does run out of energy as the day progresses. A blood transfusion is in order and we are hoping that the lab results are returned quickly so we can determine our next best course of action.
Here, he is in our laps Saturday morning, just before we are to leave to participate in some Veteran’s Day activities.
