We are sad to report that we lost our special boy, our senior black cat, Buckwheat, yesterday, November 22nd, 2017.His sarcoma progressed through his body starting in 2016 and in spite of extensive surgery and medication it was too aggressive. He had started to sneeze blood droplets and in spite of a good appetite, he lost weight rapidly. His quality of life was poor to say the least.
We have always said that when they tell us it is time, we will abide by that. As difficult as it was, we had to let him go. Our veterinarian, Dr. Jessica Rivera, was surprised that he lasted as long as he did.
We took these pictures the day before. He used to love to lay on the catio but had not ventured out in some time. But, that day, he clearly wanted out in the sun and cool air. He jumped up on the glider and spent quite a while there. You can see the ugly growth on his jaw.
We miss you, baby boy, but your ashes will forever remain in a beautiful box in a special place in our home.
RIP Buckwheat.
